How should I go about going on the pill ?

I would say don’t try to go around her. Sit down and talk to her reasonably. Why do you want to be on the pill? Is it to regulate your cycle? Ease monthly cramps and PMS? Or is it because you have decided to get serious with someone?

Depending on your age might determine why she is against it. Perhaps she is afraid that giving you the pill is the green light to start sleeping around carelessly (and any smart mom knows that pregnancy can happen on the pill as well as the pill doesn’t protect you from STD’s). Maybe she’s just concerned about you and your well being.

Regardless of whether she agrees or not it is still a good idea to have a little heart to heart talk with her like a grown up. It will only open lines of communication and strengthen your relationship.

And if you don’t get the pill and are intent on having sex, please, please, please…INSIST that the boy wears a condom. See him put it on. Don’t just take his word for it. You are the person most responsible for taking care of yourself. If you don’t take the responsibility for it then no one else will.
