How long would it take to get fit?

I smoke, and im going to quite, im planning on getting fit eating right and excercising cause I want to loose some weight aswell but I was wondering does anyone know how long it will take to get fit so you can possibly run for like 3 minutes without getting out of breath?

if you want get fit quick get a trainer, but I would say that it doesnt matter how long it takes its a lifestyle. to make healthy choices all the time, take the stairs not the escalator, park your car farther when you go to the shopping mall dont be in a rush to get fit. do what you can when you can and to set goals.

I quit smoking over 9 months ago, when I fell pregnant. It was hard but I needed a good reason to stop the gross habit. I stil have cravings now. Good luck, I am trying yoga and pilates as am soo unflexible and need to ease into excercise.I want to look good by summer (december in Oz)

Well if you smoke and are unfit It might take a good while before getting fit (months) DEF quit smoking GREAT IDEA … remember don’t overwork yourself start out slow! well you might out of breath in 3 minutes because of the smoking. you might want to try walking instead of running right at first to get your cardio up!

Throw yourself in at the deep-end! I have done no exercise for years, smoked for the last decade and was struggling with the steps to my bedroom. Slightly shocked at this I decided to do something about it, so did the coast to coast bike ride. This jump-started exercising and I switched to riding a bike to work. I did this for two weeks, and then stopped smoking as well. The benefits of the 3 days solid exercise were apparent after a week. Not smoking has lifted my energy levels after 4 days - I got up early today, went for a jog with the dogs and rode out the Peak District on the way to work (extra 10 miles).

Like anything - the harder you push the more you get out. After a few weeks it (exercise) becomes as addictive as nicotine.
