How do welfare checks work?

My dad had to quit work for health reasons, and since then he has been receiving welfare check’s monthly, because me, my brother and sister dont work, and we get around $1200 a month now I want to work but my dad says if I do start working it’ll take off about $400 and I wont be able to make it up from working.

My friends say that I can only make a certain amount of money from working, but my dad says we lose money.

It that true, I dont know much about welfare, all I want is some money in my pocket and I dont want to be an 18 yr old who does’nt work and has never had any job experience.

The only way it would work is if you werent living with your dad but that would lessen his money also. I just don’t know what the difference would be. If you were able to get a good job maybe you could pay your dad the 400 per month that he would lose or just take care of what you need with your own earned money. Since your 18 you should be able to get a decent job. Im 19 and I make about 1400 per month in home healthcare (certified nurse assistant). If you make that money it would more than compensate for the loss of money. If you wanna find out more about being a CNA, message me.
