How do the values of the itlian family tie into romeo and juliet?

What were the values of the italian family during the renaissance age and how would that fit in with romeo and juliet being disobedient toward their families hatred for each other?

Answer #1

The wealthy families competed against each other for top rank in their local society. Those families who were wealthy usually had a deep long existing rivalry for power. The extent of these fueds went all the way into public society. Take the begininning scene for example, the two men whose names I’ve forgotten are fighting in the town market in front of all people. The men are chastised by the higher court but the families usually were glad to see their family honored. Hope it helped I hated that play. lol
