How do I tell my parents I am moving out?

I am 24 years old and for the first time I am moving out of my parents house. I am also moving in with my boyfriend and a friend. My parents are old fashioned and aren’t really cool with the whole “living with the boyfriend” type thing. My sister lived at home until she was 26 and until her wedding day. I’m just scared to tell them… I’ve never been able to just open up and talk to my parents about anything. How should I go about telling them?

Answer #1

Well, I think that you should have moved out a LONG time ago. You’re 324. Most people move out by age 18 or 20 at the most. My uncle is 35 though, and he is STILL living with my grandparents. I know that that is pathetic, so think about it. You are turning into my uncle.

Answer #2

Tell them that you’re their daughter, and as their daughter, they should have your back in any decision you make. A lot of people move out a little after they turn 18.. or whenever they finish high school. Maybe say that you want to try living with your boyfriend to see how you guys get along in a situation like that, so you don’t make a big mistake down the road?

Answer #3

This is resolved! Thanks!

Answer #4

Think about what? I never said I wasn’t moving out. And I am nothing like your pathetic Uncle.

Answer #5

I meant to put, you’re 24.
