How to make a good impression at my new school?

Well basically, I have only lived in one place for my entire life, in a small town, and I have recently found out that we are moving to Germany. I will go to an international school in Hamburg. I will be switching mid-semester, and I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make a good impression

Answer #1

I moved to a new school when I was 15. It was very exciting! You will meet a lot of interesting personalities your first week there. Just be open and friendly to everybody who says hello. Keep a bright smile on your face and you’ll do fine. Pretty soon you’ll find your own circle of friends and feel at home. God bless

This Is What I Think You Should Do 1st: Get Into Clubs. 2nd: Try To Talk To People With The Same Interests That You Have. 3rd: Make A Good Impression. 4th: Get To Know People That Aren’t Trouble, People Who Are Kind Of Like You But Also. What You Look For In A Friend. 5th: Be Social. 6th: Act Calm And Cool, NOT Nervous. 7th: Don’t Try To Stand Out. 8th: Choose Friends Wisely. 9th: Spend Time With Other People. 10th: Introduce Yourself To Other People You Might Be Interested In Being Friends With. 11th: Make A Good Impression On Your Teachers. If You Don’t They Assume You Are A Bad Kid And That You Always Start Trouble. In Other Words They Hate You Before They Even Get To Know You.

I heard this really great peice of advice the other day to apply to things like this. I’m starting work this morning at a new job and I’m really nervous about making friends and giving the best impression too.
The advice was - don’t send yourself to situations like this, send your representative. In other words, make sure to act in the best way possible - in the way you would like to be. With this new opportunity you may find those personality traits which you found hard to show in your ususal environment are able to stick, and this makes you a better person!

Lucky you! You will love it - what a great opportunity for you… hopefully you won’t be too sheltered from the country. its people and culture. There types of schools generally have a lot of students moving in and out, so don’t be surprised if you’re not the only “new” kid. As for making a good impression? Be enthusiastic and curious about your new surrouindings, and don’t keep saying “back in the USA we did it like this…”

Take this opportunity to learn German. It’s a fascinating language, very different from Spanish, Italian or French. We English speakers are not famous for learning others’ languages and anyone who does, can get a lot of respect!

Make lots of new friends and report back frequently!!

Answer #8

Hey! Wow Germany. :) sounds so much fun. don’t let your worries bring you down. since you’re going to a school like that there will be a lot of new kids. just remember to be yourself. say hi often (but not TOO often) and ask somebody for a pencil to strike up a conversation. also remember to look nice. nothing is worse than a whiff of B.O. or a bad breath attack. designers aren’t everything, but look nice. wear something that makes you feel confident and proud.

good luck. you’ll do fine. :]
