How do I get my dog to stop wizzing on the carpet?

I recently moved into a new duplex with my two beautiful and well behaved dogs. Before we moved here both were potty trained. Since moving here, they seem to have forgotten about being potty trained and piddle on the floor almost on a daily basis. I know the people who lived here before had a cat and a dog and I am almost 100% they piddled on the floor because when we lift up the rug there are stains on the floor all over the place! My question is if there is any type of solution out there that I can use with my carpet shampooer to remove the traces of all evidence any other animals left behind? It’s getting to be a hassle shampooing the spots over and over again almost daily. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and I know this will be a suggestion - I do take my dogs out on a regular basis as I would have normally at my old apartment. Our routine hasn’t changed at all so maybe that will help you answer?

Dearest Venus3601, I know how to potty train my dogs but thank you for the suggestion. It isn’t a problem with my dogs not knowing where to go or how to use the bathroom outside. It’s a problem with the stains that were left here from the previous tenant. The carpet itself has no signs of stains however when lifting up the carpet, looking at the wood underneath you can tell the cats & dogs which lived here before myself had accident problems and my dogs continue to try and cover up their scent. Maybe I should rephrase my question. >.< How do you get a previous tenants pets markings to be hidden or disappear so my dogs don’t try covering it up with their own scent?

Sometimes when animals don’t feel comfortable in a new place, they will go on the floor or other places to kinda tell their owners their scared. (Heard this from a vet) My old kitty did this too. Best thing to do,go to walmart and they have these little potty mat things you can put all over your place. Their not even that pricey,I think it’s like 6 bucks for a thing of 5. But yeah, when you see your dog about to go,try to get him on the mat and then if he goes on the mat, give him a treat and tell him he’sa good dog. He’ll start getting the msg he can go on the mat and if you reward him he will do it more often then on your floor. Also, try to get them to go outside more, when they do give em a treat so they relize it they do that, they will get rewarded. NEVER yell at your dogs or hit them or anything, because that will get them to not like you and rebell more.

I used resolve pet stain remover. However, it didn’t remove all of it, so there is a light stain, but it looks 90% better. If it’s been there for a while, I would suggest finding a carpet cleaning company that specializes in hard stains.

But, if you want to retrain your dogs, you can use pottytraining pads in the apartment. and keep an eye on the dogs. when they try to pee, throw them on the pad. Eventually they will get the idea.

If you have a patio, doggy door! I need to get one, but the weather is nice enough here for us to leave the door open so our dog goes out by himself.

I had to use about half a bottle of pet stain remover, and an hour of carpet scrubbing yesterday. My dog tries to “hide” his poop like a cat… gag.

Anyway, good luck with the dog peeing.

ps. it could be them “marking” their new home. ew… even more.

Well one way to help a dog to stop going to the bathroom is to try to take the dog outside about every hour or 2 for about 2 or 3 weeks. Then stand out there with them till they go to the bathroom. Then say “Good dog!” After a few weeks they’ll get the picture!
