How do I get discovered as a music artist?

I know its cliche, and everyone wants to be a ‘pop star’ but I really do love playing and writing songs. I contacted a couple agencies but they all charge fees or require your parents to come with you. I dont want anyone else knowing about this stuff just in case it doesnt happen. Plus Im almost certain it wont seeing as im no where near as talented as most people, but I love it so much. Its like I have my own little world!!

my space and you tube is they way to go, only if you dont mind a little criticism. youd be supprised how many people get discovered on those sites. never stop trying. if you go to gigs regularly try and talk to the artists there. they will almost always have somthing of benifit to say.

The system will enslave and exploit you. I highly recommend you self-produce if you believe you have a sound or message people will like. Otherwise your music will be filtered, edited, mass marketed, and capitalized on. And in the end, the mind that originated all of it, will be used up and abandoned.

no more mega-corporate music please

I’m telling you this because like the others, you may actually succeed, and I want you to support and advocate the demise of an overblown and massively excessive corporate control on music.

And maybe you’ll help spread the word if/when you do make it. I can only hope.

TALENT IS RELATIVE You will certainly fail thinking you have little or no talent. Have you tried the underground approach? That is, recording and producing all your own work. That still requires money (good burning software, a capable computer, sound equipment, and a printer) but it’s far less than any agency would charge you, and If you produce your own material and people LIKE it…oh boy… those same agencies would be paying you, to get you in a contract and get rights to your profits. Research!!! Research!!! Research!!! Approach this like a job and you will succeed.
