how do I convince my parents to let me get a cell phone?

hey guys I’m 13 too and well I have to share one with my older sister who’s 15 and she’s always telling everyone it HER phone and even though it has texting she deletes my messages and when she gets mad at me she texts MY friends really stupid stuff…it suxs and I’ve tried to talk my parents into gettting us our own phone but our family is kinda poor especially after christmas so I’m thinking about just buying my own phone…but then how would that work???

You know something - your mom didn’t have a cellphone when she was your age…I didn’t have one, either…my 16 year old doesn’t even have one.

A cellphone is a privilege, and believe it or not, your parents don’t have to get you one.

You can try using the same argument - you’ll do chores to ‘earn’ it, but don’t push your luck…if your parents don’t think you need one, well, you know what? They’re right.

I would go buy a go phone from walmart, or somewhere, with your own money, and there you go :P

Try explaining to your parents that you think it’s important to have your privacy and it can also be helpful in ensuring your safe when not with you parents, make sure you stay calm when disscussing this isssue with your parents as it is obviously something you all feel strongly about. Make sure you listen and take into consideration your parents points and ensure they know that you understand how they feel. You seem quite willing to do chores etc. so maybe suggest that you will save you money in order to buy your own phone or ask for it as a birthday/christmas present. Hope I’ve helped x

Tell your parents its important in case of an emergency! which it is.. I mean I know when I have children they will get theirs when they are 10!! You never know when somthing bad might happen.

If you do get one.. remember whos paying for it, and not to take advantage of it.

omg im 13 to.I have my own phone.my mom would always listen to my conversations.it was annoying.just tell your mom that all your friends have one and you want one.

tell your parents that it would help you guys communicate. like if you need them to pick you up! :) please answer my question too…how do I get texting??!?!?my parents wouldnt use it if I had it so this doesnt work!
