How do I ask my mother if I can be put on Birth Control?

I’m 13 -and before you say that I’m way too young to even think about sex, just know that I’m w a why mature, and yeah- and I’ve been with this guy for 2 years, and I love him and I know it. Believe me or not. Anyway, we just recently started having sex, and I’ve asked my mom about Birth Control before, but she always said no, and never believes me when I say I’m active. She says she’d ‘beat me’ if I ever got pregnant or had sex or anything like that, but I know she won’t lol:) And my periods are, and have always been really heavy, and a whole week long. like really really heavy. I stay home from school sometimes. Even when I mentioned it because of that, she said no. So, I need to know how I can tell her that I really need to be on Birth Control, and things like that. Thanks!

Planned parenthood can help you get birth control, sometimes for free, without parental consent.

Talk to your mom about the discomfort from your period. Explain that it is a hindrance but since it can be helped, you would like to look into your options. Tell her you have been having sex with your boyfriend and you understand that it is not a responsible thing to do so you would like to take any precations that you can. Explain that you care about your boyfriend and you are doing this because you want to but you know you are not ready for a child and that it would be unfair for you to bring a child into the world when you are so unprepared to take care of it.

I’m sure thats not what you want to hear because most girls (and guys) want to say they are in love and they are responsible and they know everything, I’ve been there, I feel ya. However if you’ve already asked and she said no, you need to take another route because obviously your ideas aren’t working (hence why you’re asking us) And dont get huffy bc I said its irresponsible, because it IS. I am 20 years old and my love and I are not ready for children, therefore having sex with him is being irresponsible, but I do it anyways. I just try to be as careful as possible. I dont agree with your decision to start being sexually active so young because you have your entire life to enjoy sex. I started young, but I had no choice and now I wish so badly that it could have waited. Anyways, I know with my mom trying what I’m mentioned above worked because I showed her I was trying to be responsible by admittng I wasnt mature enough to have a child.

Sorry to be so brash. I suppose its a touchy subject. Hope I helped a little though.

Cheers!

Yes you are just as mature as every other 13 year old claiming to be mature. Keep in mind though that maturity also factors in priorities and RISK.

Answer #4

Believe me or not I am extremely mature, but tseirpeht, bleieve me or not. And I know the risk and I always take responisbility for my actions. And, since you didn’t answer my Q, why’d you even answer?

Just tell her that you love this guy and that ya’ll have been having sex, but you want a future and that is why you want to be put on the pill so that nothing does happen, because you will have a lower chance of getting pg if you use condoms and bc, but just condoms you have a slightly higher chance of getting pg… you know so just explain the situation to her and let her know that you are doing this for you and her so no one gets hurt…
