How can you tell if a female dog is spayed (fixed)?

I’ve had bonnie (my pitbull) since she was probably around 3 months and I’ve had her for half a year now. I was never sure if she was fixed or not but there seems to be a scar on her tummy from when dogs gets spayed. I assume that she is spayed because my female chihuahua had the same scar once we got her fixed. But today, after bathing Bonnie, I discovered that her nipples were all big and her vagina is swollen. AND she’s bleeding down there…What is going on?

If you thought she was spayed, and there is a scar…then it’s hard to tell…I’d get her into the Vets and see what’s going on. Usually if you get even a pup from the shelter, they are spayed. (Just saying they can and DO spay any shelter pup as soon as they can…9 weeks isn’t to early)…

You ask the vet. Given her age, you should be getting her regular shots and checkups?

Answer #3

I don’t know a lot about dogs but if she was 3 months old, I don’t think spaying gets done that soon, I could be mistaken though. The best thing you could do is to take her to get looked over by a vet, don’t take any chances.

Answer #4

so basically she shouldn’t be bleeding if she is spayed right?
