How can I set up a wireless internet connection with my modem?

Well It’s just a question I don’t know if it’s possible. I’d like to try it or do I need an adapter? Every answer would be much appreciated ^^ danke schon

You’d have to see if your modem allows wireless connections (usually it will if there’s a wireless section or light on it). Most don’t, some do. If it does, you’ll have to log into the modem and enable it (for some you log in using your IP, others do it via internal IP). Then you have to get yourself a WEP key, because it’s very important that you set a password for the wireless internet connection so others don’t leach off of you.

If it doesn’t allow wireless connections, you’ll have to get a router and set that up. There will be an instruction manual that comes with it, just read that and follow it.

If you go for a wireless connection, you’ll need to make sure that you also have a wireless adapter on your computer that will pick up the wireless signal. Most laptops have it, some desktops have it. If you’re not sure, check and see. If you don’t have that, you’ll need to buy an adapter. The adapters range in prices, as do the others. Pick whichever has good stats and is in your price range.

Your modem has nothing to do with the wireless connection…you need a wireless router. Plug your modem into your router, then you need to plug your laptop into your router, and follow the directions in Windows to get it all in sync. You have to restart your laptop, so the connection can be recognized.

You need a router…not an adapter. Connect the router to your modem, then connect the computers to the router. The router should have details (instructions) that are easy to follow.

I’ve used apple’s airport extreme for a while, it’s the best I’ve ever had. Before that, I used a lot of different ones, none were easy to set up though, which is usually the biggest headache of it all.
