How can I make my leaps better in jazz dance?

Well it’s mostly with straighten my legs and jumping higher, how can I fix that?

Answer #1

Stretch a LOT before you do it. It helps if you can do the splits. Also, if you go a bit lower on your plie, to give yourself more ‘spring’ when you leap up, you have more time to get higher and bring your legs up more. Plus, I know you hear this a lot, but, practice. lol. That’s really the key to it all. ^^

Answer #2

when I wanted to get my leaps higher I tried to get my splits lower the lower I got them the higher my leaps got to get my splits lower I would put my back to the bar and put my hands to the side holding on to the bar I would have a friend push my leg up as high as it would go each time going a little father once it was high enough I would have my friend let go and I would try to hold my leg in the same spot after doing both legs do your splits and I garenty they will be lower then try leaping and your leaps will get higher and higher the more you do this

it really works because as a fellow dancer I still do this myself
