How can a felon become a Neuro Researcher?

Can convicted felons become Neuro scientists? I had a poss CDS and Burg 2 when I was19, went to prison but, I am on a deferred sentence. So, I wasn’t technically convicted but, employers don’t understand delayed sentencing. I am 3 semesters away from my Associates in Psychology but I want to do Neuro Research… if I continue to make good grades, what are my chances??

Answer #1

Hmm. I’m not sure. I assume that most employers will perform a background check. Are you thinking of getting a Phd or an MD? Because in those cases licensing maybe a problem. And without licensing, getting a job may be hard…

Answer #2

Well I kind of wanted to at least get a masters and PhD if possible. I am trying to find out how to get a pardon and expungment and how expensive it is. It seems like they make it nearly impossible for the ones who do want to change to be successful.

Answer #3

Well you’ve got a little bit of time so dont give up, a bachelors is 4 years (if you’re 3 semesters away from an AA that means you’ve done 1 semester?), a masters is 1 or 2 and then a phd is 5. I mean I’m sure you can get it removed in 10 years if you’ve stayed out of trouble… Consider getting a lawyer. Think of it as expense now for long term reward…
