Funding for a homeless teen shelter

I know a few homeless teens that need help. They have nobody to rely on, addidcted parents, being gay and kicked out ect… Should I start a shelter? If yes, how should I get funding? Has anyone you done this?

Answer #1

you should talk to bobby torres on lifespace.cc, he’s a pro at that.

Answer #2

First check and see if there are any shelters in your area.

If you are able to start a shelter you would have to try to seek funding from churches, charities, civic organizations and local government.

Answer #3

go to your city hall speak to public officials they should help with funding…or request a foster care facility

Answer #4

I would say if you were to start a homeless shelter it would be a really noble thing. Just make sure you do it correctly, so you don’t end up with fines. I wouldn’t recommend just having people stay in your house or having them go to a place you set up without finding out the requirements to open a shelter. check with code and compliance on do’s and don’ts and what the laws of your area are. You can probably get that at city hall..

Find funding-such as Grants, donations and fund raisers, then find a location that fits the requirements and then check with local clubs, churchs, organizations for any type of assistance they can offer.

I found this site, and they have a lot of great information ..
