help sims 2 won't work!

I just installed all of my games for sims 2 onto my pc all over again and whenever I click on it it says: failed to find any directX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! please make sure you have a directX 9.0c compatable graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. the application will now terminate.

ok so how do I fix this problem? I restarted my computer I changed the screen resolutions(another site said it would work) but nothing works please help , thanks
