Comp problems

So my boyfriend offered to put all the music on his I tunes thingy onto my I touch I recently got… Well when we plugged it in the comp wouldn’t recognize my iPod at all an we tried everything. Well the next day he went to plug his I pod in which is the nano an it wouldn’t recognize his iPod either! He deleted iTunes and everything to try to get it to work but it’s useless an I feel luke its my fault because my iPod messed it up so can someone please tell me what’s wrong an how to fix it

this has happened to me before and I’m not sure how I fixed it.. it just kida happened.. I would try it again if it doesn’t recognize it exit iTunes and unplug the iPod (even if it says do not disconnect it should be fine because it only says that so you don’t get half files or half upgrades, but since its not recognizing it anyways no worries) then I would restart the iPod (flip hold on off on off then press and hold BOTH the center and menu button till the apple pops up) and then try it again… I’ve also found that whether you open itunes before you plug in your ipod or vise versa sometimes makes a difference… if all else fails contact iTunes support for help
