Gym and Growing

Is it true that going gym makes you shrink or stop you growing properly? I’m 15 and was wondering (because of something someone said) if going gym will affect you growing?

Any advice will help, thanks.

Answer #1

To an extent it contracts your bones to where they may grow improperly and has a shrinking affect. To avoid this issue, it is advised that you DO NOT POWER LIFT while still growing. You can still lift just make sure you’re doing high reps(15+) instead of power lifting which is around 1-12. You can still get plenty great of a workout without stacking on tons of weight.

Take coral calcium while lifting so you rebuild bones.

Where did you hear going to the gym makes you shrink? There is nothing wrong with working out as long as you dont over do it And no you won’t stop growing, the only thing I can think of that stops growth (apart from certain drugs) is malnutrition, so as long as you eat enough you should be fine.
