Guitar string trouble (Sizes! Help!)

Today I was just changing my guitar strings and well I was a bit lost. I’ve been playing the guitar for 9 years and I still don’t know this. I got this big package of guitar strings from my family as a gift. And well… the strings were all seperately and instead of saying E, A, D, G, B, E they had numbers like 12, 22, 30, etc. So it took me forever to put the strings on. I was going by sizes because I had no clue what the hell I was doing, and it was frustrating. What are the sizes for each string?

I’d like to know for future reference. :)

Find the thickest string. Note what gauge it is. Lay the strings in consecutive order by the numbers. The thickest string should be the end string closest to you. Then just follow the order as you put the on. It’s also a good idea to tune it, pull on the strings, tune it,. repeat a few times to break the strings in else you will have some tuning problems.
