how can I ever get over the guilt that I feel over the death of my beloved cat?

If only I had taken him to the vet maybe a week earlier. He was twelve and had suspected cancer . I am dying of grief and and don’t know what to do?

The same happened to our dog a year ago, he had throat cancer and we thought it was a cold like he always got in the winter and it was to late, however

You can’t live your whole life based on what ifs. What if you did take him a week earlier and he died a week earlier, so then you didn’t have the last week of his life with him. Think of what you did right for him. You loved him enough to actually feel guilty. I’m pretty sure he had an excellent life and in the end you didn’t let him suffer. I suggest making an album or something with photos of him or a frame etc to remember him by and to give yourself some time.

Try to remember the good memories you had with them. If time doesn’t eventually heal these wounds then therapy might work.
