Do you think government programs such as medicaid should be allowed to test women for illegal substances during their pregnancy?

Do you feel they should be allowed to test them and deny their medicaid insurance if dr.ugs are found in their system or do you feel that they should have the right to privacy?

Answer #1

To be honest, I feel they should test them, and then offer the insurance needed to cover treatment for addiction - for the sake of the baby and the mother. I don’t think denying them Medicaid is the right move.

Answer #2

Absolutely, they should be able to test them. They don’t want to give you help with your pregnancy by setting you up on a program that costs other people money if youre not even clean or in the position to be having a baby anyways. When you decide you want the government’s help and other people’s money, your right to privacy is gone. You shouldnt be given help you dont deserve or act like you’re appreciative of.

Answer #3

Privacy ends when another’s life is in danger. For example, I’m pretty sure that if they find dru.gs in the system they have to report it to DCF. There are limits to privacy, and I’m pretty sure this is one of the exceptions. Yes I think they should be allowed to test for it. If it gets reported, it goes to DCF and then DCF makes sure that the parent gets treatment.

Answer #4

I think anyone and everyone on welfare needs to be d.rug tested. It would keep the state from looking down on people like me, (with 2 jobs, 2 kids, and no husband,) who try damn hard to make it and just need some help. Instead I always get the evil eye because so many others milk the system while spending all their money on d.rugs or for dealing. Not everyone, but some. Clearly enough for people like me to be “guilty by association.” Anyway, I digress… To answer your question. Yes, test. But do not revoke medicaid for pregnant women or children, ever. The d.rug testing should be used to detect fetal abuse so cps can act accordingly.

Answer #5

Yes, for the purpose of counseling ONLY.

Answer #6

Any one receiving any government help in any way should be tested. No more sending checks in the mail. We can go ahead and leave them with the drug testing people. And the cost of the test will be automatically taken out of the check before you even see it. And if you fail two tests you’re no longer eligable for any assistance of any kind for the rest of your life.
