Getting My Puppy To Like Me!!!

I just bought my pup, TJ, 2 days ago and he’s 7 weeks old.. My previous dog was very attached to me and it was a beautiful relationship to have. I want the same in TJ. Help! Any advice in how to get Little TJ to see me like his mommy??

Agreed with every thing, but the 2 weeks with out scolding thing…phrannie is kinda right, you have to show him there are rules, but riccaboo is also right taking a few weeks with out scolding is a very good way to have a puppy attach to you, also just because you do not scold the puppy does not mean you have to go with out rules, instead of scolding him, show him what is right. Do not tell him no, show him what to do and tell him yes. That has worked for me for well over 10 dogs. An example, normally if the dog goes bathroom on the floor, you go no no and swat the dog with news paper or something. For those 2 weeks do not do that. If your training the dog to go out a pet door, show him the door, then take him outside, and stay out there with him, tell him, go potty, go potty, so he knows the command, and then wait tell he goes, and say goood boy, and give him a treat. Then after the few weeks, if he has not learned yet, witch some times they don’t, 3 of my dongs did by then but the rest never did, I slowly added scolding into it. I have never had a dog that has not potty trained with in 1 month. So it does work!

give him snacks and treats, take him for walks, let him sleep in your bed. thats all I can think of. but I hope it helps.

Answer #3

well what you should do is maybe play with TJ more often, or feed him a treat everytime TJ does something good, let him/her slide for a few weeks, as in if TJ does something bad dont scold him/her

Answer #4

Play with him…feed him…and the biggest thing…YOU do the training, so he’ll see you as his leader. Every dog has it’s own personality, and some get tighter with their leader than others…but doing the above things will get you all that he has to offer you.

DO NOT let him slide for a few weeks, dogs crave leadership…if you don’t show him how to live in the human world, he’ll think that he’s the leader…Discipline isn’t punishment, it’s simply rules for him to live a good life…
