I have one question left for homework and I don’t know the answer. “why do some people seek genetic counsilling “ ? I have no idea.

ps forgot to add that ‘counselling’ is the British spelling, ‘counseling’ is used I and the USA. and probably Canada..Can’t imagine your teacher will care, though

Genetic counselling (if this is homework, watch the spelling) is important for people who risk (or fear that they risk) passing on inherited disorders, birth defects or diseases to future generations.

As you know, many disorders can be inherited - historically the most famous example is probably hemophilia (the bleeders’ disease) and the Russian Czars.

Genetic counselling can involve talking with a trained specialist advisor, getting advice on how to cope with the problem, or if necessary discussing abortion options.
