How do I get my gauges to close?

I have a 1/2 gauge & I was thinking about gauging it to the next size then taking it out to heal while it’s raw. Yaknow?

Answer #1

Why would you stretch them to the next size, just to take it out afterward?

All you have to do is take your jewelry out, and wait for it to close up, or at least grow smaller to a normal size hole.

Answer #2

i’ve left it out for a year and there’s still a big whole.

Answer #3

I don’t think that stretching them out is going to work, it’ll just go back to the size it was now if it is raw. To be honest. I don’t know if a hole that big wil ever close. My small earring holes have never closed and I probably haven’t worn earrings for a year.

Answer #4

Well making it larger isn’t going to do anything, lol. It’s just going to make it a larger hole. To be honest, you should have thought about the consequences before you have the piercing/stretching done. There is always a chance that the piercing will not ever fully close, or will take a long time to close.

Answer #5

lol, yeah. I was thinking about that now; making it bigger & it won’t do anything.

Answer #6

Sometimes, they never close… and the only way to fix them is to have a cosmetic procedure done. Which is NOT cheap. This is why things like tattoos and piercings should be well thought out before getting. People never think about the consequences to these things, and think that they will always want to tattoo or piercing… but most likely, they will not like it forever, and will eventually wish they never got it done.

Answer #7

Depends how big the hole is. If it is already big enough then I am not sure that it is going to ever close…:(

Answer #8

unfortiuantnly what a lot of kids didnt realise when they got gauges, is that most of the time they will never heal, so unfortunantly if you have a hole there, unless its very small its likley you’ll have it for the rest of your life, and only surgery can close it, but that will leave more scars. see a dcotor and ask threm for their profesional advice if the size hole you have could heal normally, expect a no for an answer though if its not a small hole. and making the hole bigger wont make it smaller (thats just common sense)

Answer #9

Yeah, when everyone was in that whole “scene” phase I was just like,” oh hey! I’ll get gauges, i’ll never regret them!” Now guess what:( i’ve just grown out of them. & I know For sure I won’t be having money for surgey anytime soon lol. & I wouldn’t want to waste so and so grands trying to fix my ears.

Answer #10

I had 00g and took it out and it closed completely over night (I couldn’t even get a normal stud through and it was fine. Though my body heals incredibly fast and most people will struggle with the healing process. I suggest you gauge down. Put a taper in one size smaller than you are right now, and it should heal around it, then go down another size etc etc and so on.

Answer #11

Downsize. I don’t know if it really works but my friend used to have 2 1/2 & she just started putting in one size lower tapers in & i guess the holes adapted to it & shrank ?

Answer #12

Depending on how big they are. If they are a smaller size all you can do is take them out and wait and if they’re a bigger size they might not close up, but take them out and wait too.

Answer #13

It depends on how big they are……if theyre not to big, they might just shrink
