Do you have to get a special piercing job if you want gauges?

I know you stretch your ear with tapers, but I was just wondering if you had to get a special piercing done or if you simply just put in the tapers with your normal ear piercing. Also, does if you get small gauges with your ear ever heal (the piercing hole shrink back to regular size)? I’ve been considering getting some and was just wondering.

No, you wouldn’t have to do anything else to your ear besides putting the tapers in through your normal ear piercing. If the gauge size is small enough they should shrink back down to just a little bigger then an average ear piercing, though it will take sometime for it to do that…..Hope I Helped In Some Way!

You only have to have your ear pierced (and it has to be completely healed) then you start stretching going up by one size at a time eg. a normal ear piercing should be a 18g and first you stretch it to 16 then 14 then 12 etc. never skipping sizes as you could have a blowout and rip your earlobe causing ugly scarring. And as for shrinking back to it’s normal size, people say don’t go past 0 and always take it slow leaving about 2 months between each stretch. Hope I helped and good luck!
