How can I tell my friends and family that I am becoming Wiccan?

They all say that the Wicca way is the path to the devil and that magick is evil and dangerous. Please don’t comment about my religion, if you think it’s evil that’s your opinion.

Answer #1

Sit down calmly and present the fact that you want a different religion and so forth.

Answer #2

I would just sit them down at a time when they are all calm and explain that you have been doing some research into the concept of Wicca and find that it makes a lot of sense to you and it something you would like to apply to your life, so you would like to be a practicing Wiccan.

I would perhaps try and print out some proper information about it and talk to them about why you feel Wicca is good and suited for you. They may be misinformed about it so will just shoot down the idea. If you have evidence to back your argument up and are willing to discuss the idea, then hopefully they will be more receptive to you.

Is there one family member that you are closer to, who you could tell first and have them help you tell everyone else? It can be good to have a little support when doing things like this so finding the most understanding person and confiding in them may helpa great deal.

Answer #3

Change is never easy. If your parents already think negative of it, then it will be okay to expect them to be mad. You have to sit down with them calmly and explain that you want to follow Wicca and even explain your reasons. There’s not much they can do anyways. No one can force you to stop. If your under 18 it is very difficult to go through the religion change. Your parents might not be able to force you to stop follow it but they can a lot to stop you like not allowing you to purchase Wiccan stuff. Your parents ca get the vibe that they didn’t raise you right too and that they failed in bringing you up their way. Just as you respect the religion they follows ask them to respect yours. They might get angry but afterall they’re your parents and if you are younger than the age where they have lost the right to control you, they can do many things to stop you. The best is to approach them calmly and tell them.
