ferret food

what do ferrets like to eat besides ferret food, you know think about it would you like to eat the same thing over and over. I give her ferret snacks like you buy but what about other stuff like fruits or meats?

Answer #1

Animal food it made for a specific animal for there diet, it is bad to change their food to quick or to often. They are not like humans when it comes to taste buds and having choices. They eat on survival. Not ummm this is good and yuk this is not. Keep a good balanced diet,

Answer #2

I wouldn’t give anything but ferret food to a ferret. Like any animal, once you start giving them treats, that’s all they want.

Ferrets lack a cecum and an appendix - they cannot digest fruits, grains and vegetables, might cause intestinal blockage. Yes they will eat them, and they also develop a sweet tooth, leads to health problems. Ferrets are strict carnivores - meat eaters - Feed a good quality ferret foods (not all ferret foods are that good). Cat food has grains like corn that can cause intestinal blockage. Good ferrets foods - Evo for ferrets and Wysong ferret food.

Answer #5

Treat should be given in moderation. There are vitamin supplements for ferrets and hairball remedies which ferrets generally love, and they provide some benefits. These make good training aids and treats, but should be used sparingly. Other treats include eggs (hard boiled, scrambled), bits of cooked meats, or freeze dried liver treats. Commercial ferret treats should only be used if they are meat based - avoid those with grains, vegetables or sugars at all costs. Ferrets have a sweet tooth but do not give in – avoid sweet treats (including raisins and other fruits).
