What should I do if I was *falsely accused* of breaking into a car?

Answer #1

Get a lawyer if they are talking about taking you to court.

Answer #2

well this crazy lady walks up to me and starts telling me she knows i broke into her daughters car. And that it was about 11:00 at night…. wtf? She is saying It was me cause of my hair color.

Answer #3

Well, she has no hard hitting evedience against you so it’s kind of your word against hers. If it does end up in court, make yourself presentable, because court is all about how you present and respond.

Answer #4

Is she known to have a legitimate mental disorder? Does she even know you? She could have just be having an “episode”.

Answer #5

Make sure they have evidence that it was you!

Answer #6

Get an alibi…

Answer #7

The onus is on her to give proof that you are the guilty party … if she can’t come up with solid evidence, there’s nothing to be done about it and it will never reach court.

Answer #8

ask 4 the ‘proof’ and explain they have no proof therefore no point i accusing you

Answer #9

True and also don’t act out violently cuz then you get screwed for assault. I doubt you’d do anything like that but just incase :D

Answer #10

1- Ask for proof 2- Get an alabi 3- Get an attorney 4- Sue for slander

Answer #11

Just act natural and seek for a solid evidence. Don’t get too much nervous because that might add up to their suspicions that you were actually doing it even though you are not. Remember that you can never be imprisoned without any proofs. However, frame ups is a different story.

Answer #12

First of all, keep your mouth shut. There are lots of innocent people in jail and prison who since they were innocent assumed they had nothing to worry about and took their charges lightly. If the police come to ask you about it and especially if they arrest you don’t say a word. Anything you say can potentially be circumstantial evidence against you. Yes, claiming your right to remain silent may make them think you are guilty but you aren’t trying to win a popularity contest, you are trying to avoid a wrongful arrest. Another thing to remember is that the police are allowed to lie to you. If you incriminate yourself because the police lied to you it is still admissible in court; regardless of anything they claim when you are a suspect the police are not your friend and are not trying to help you. Even if you are guilty as sin it is never in your best interest to confess without a lawyer even if the police tell you giving up will reduce your charges or sentence. If you are going to plea bargain your lawyer will be a far better negotiator than you could ever be. The reason criminals go free is usually because they know to keep their yap shut and the main reason innocent people get convicted is because they unwisely shoot their mouth off. Good luck!
