What do I do so my eyes do not hurt from the make up I wear?

Ok, so I am a make up noob. I don’t wear it on a daily basis, however when I do wear make up (and this is new make up, unused with clean brushes), I always have a problem with my eyes that burn. I have even tried different brands, but they all seem to have the same problem. Once it was so bad I had to go wash my eyes out with cold water just to stop the irritation. Is this the eyeliners fault or the mascaras fault and does anyone know whether there is a specific ingredient that causes this?

Answer #1

You’re eyes don’t hurt from the makeup or they do hurt?

Answer #2

Wait you are confusing me, what do you mean. I meant that my eyes hurt when I wear make up. They often turn red and get all watery.

Answer #3

How are you applying it? Using concealer, powder, and then an eyeshadow base can help prevent the irritation since the eyeliner wont be touching your skin directly. I had that problem with liquid liner at first. Now i apply concealer all over my face, then powder, then i use either an eyeshadow base or a dab more of concealer on my eyelids and apply my eyeshadow, then eyeliner.

Answer #4

The thing is I don’t really wear concealer and powder etc, but thank you I will follow your advice. And even if I don’t wear eye liner I have this problem.

Answer #5

I find that when I wear make up after not wearing it for awhile, my eyes burn - I guess it’s a sensitivity problem. It just takes some time to get used to it.

Answer #6

Perhaps you are allergeric to your makeup? try a orgainc natural make up, much better for your skin, no chemicals.

Answer #7

sometimes its just the make up that you use. try different kinds and see if any other ones help.

Answer #8

some eyeliners can make eyes sting and water. try before you buy.

Answer #9

If the makeup you’re applying is hurting your eyes, then it most likely means you’ve either got extremely sensitive skin or that you have some allergic reaction to that brand of makeup. I suggest looking into other brands (especially ones marked “hypoallergenic”)
