Excess goldfish food

Gold fish…I have a goldfish and a guppy and I got them yesterday and I fed them and there is still food leftover and it sinks to the bottom do I leave it or is it poisonous

it’s alrightit won’t poison them, you dont really feed a goldfish everyday, just once or twice a week is enough. I used to have a 8 small goldfish, and after 2 years they grew! :D

A small amount is OK. You are learning how much to feed them. Next time put in a bit less. There is a time frame when feeding fish. Something like no more than they can eat in ### minutes, but it has was too long ago that I raised fish. I don’t remember. Hopefully someone else will chime in. If not call up a pet store that sells fish and ask. (A real pet store, not a Wal-Mart that happens to sell fish.) Good Luck!!

p.s. You can use a straw or piece of tubing to get the excess out of the tank. Just put your finger over the end of the straw and lower the other end down into the water until the far end is next to the excess food. Take your finger off the top end for a second, then put it back on, re-sealing the straw. And lift the whole thing out. Instant cheap vacuum cleaner.
