Electric guitar players

Hey, does anyone know anything about acoustic amplifiers? Someone told me that running a distortion effects pedal through it (along with an electric guitar) could possibly damage the electronics of the amp. My acoustic amp is huge compared to my electric guitar amp, and I wanted to try doing this but I want to know for sure if it’s safe or not?

Answer #1

it should be okay I mean your guitar wont spontaneously combust or anything it’ll probably just sound really flat…like if you were to plug your guitar in the wrong plug of an amp or w/e

Answer #2

Thanks for the advice guys I finally tried it out. Clean tone sounds amazing and distortion is actually not flat at all. It distorts the signal even more making a cool fuzzbox sound. My roland cube actually sounds flat when compared to putting distortion through the fender acoustic amp

Answer #3

yeah well cause acoustic amplifiers are a little more rolled of for acoustic sounds the sounds you wont great wont be that great. and unless you are doing like very very heavy distortion with scooped mids ( archangel settings what metallica uses 10 bass 0 mid 10 treble) you shudnt have a problem :).

Answer #4

you shouldnt have a problem, it wont sound as good, the tone will be a little flat, hope I helped
