Ebonics 100...101

WHY — are most of the questions and replies on here written with ebonics — in some cases, the wrong word being even much longer than the correctly spelled one?

I know a lot of the people on here are young, but COME ON!!!

“TEWDAY”… = Today What’s wrong with the CORRECT spelling??? There’s WORSE TOO!

Have we gotten SO lazy that we don’t even TRY to use proper spelling? and PLEASE don’t get me going on words that are so mispelled, you have no idea what it was supposed to be!

It seems that the “standards” of education keep going up and up, but the quality keeps going down and down!

I would be black and blue if I wrote like some people write on here by all the knuckle smashes I would have gotten from the ruler!

Answer #1

It’s not about laziness.

If you think about it, it takes longer to type out most words with unique spelling rather than the word itself (like your “tewday” example).

A lot of kids seem to think it’s fun and cool to type that way.

The rest of us think it makes them look illiterate and rather uneducated…but, alas…what can we do about it?

Answer #2

I wouldn’t call it ebonics, it’s just people that either can’t spell or purposely spell things wrong just to do it, like for example I’ve seen people spell the word “it” wrong, the word “and” wrong, and the word “wrong” wrong (they spelled it “rhong”), it’s pretty hard to spell those words wrong unless you’re purposely trying to do it, don’t let get on your nerves, just laugh at it
