What does it mean for your ears to 'blowout' with gauges?

& is it okay to skip from size 6 to 2 or should i go to 4 in between ?

Answer #1

DONT SKIP! Go to a 4. 6-4 is a large jump, it hurts just like 0 to 00 I have a 4 in my cartilage and 00 in my lobes. A blowout is legit the inside part of your ear turning inside out and coming out the back. If you really want to prevent this, use Jojoba oil on the taper so it slides in and doesnt push the skin out. Also, if your ears are tight, use warm water on your ears before stretching. If you can, tug on your guages for a few days before hand so your skin has some elasticity. It will make it hurt less. Any other piercing related q/s I am here ^_^

Don’t skip. I went from 0g to 00g (only a small difference) and it blew out and I had to take it out and let it heal :S

Answer #3

A blow-out happens when a piercing is stretched too big, too quickly. What happens, is your skin tunnel is forced out of the back of the piercing. It looks kind of like a mass of skin that is pushed out on one side of your piercing. It will get very red and swollen, and a lot of times, there are tears in the skin as well. It will feel very sore and tender to the touch. If it’s not taken care of, it will get worse and worse. One a piercing has a blow-out, it’s near impossible for it to heal

Yeah so did my bf. I never had one b/c I have had guages for 7 years now, so my ears are very stretchy
