Dynamics and phrasing

What does phrasing and dynamics refer to in music?

Answer #1

Dynamics pretty much refers to the volume of certain parts in a song. Dynamics can help set the mood for the song. Loud dynamics are associated with turmoil, violence, conflicts, and so on (sometimes marches). Soft music normally refers to tranquility and calmnes (love songs). Most dynamic terms are Italian… pianissimo, diminuendo, mezzo forte for example.

You can think of phrasing as dividing musical sentences (or thoughts) into melodic/rhythmic sections, kind of like the effect of punctuation in language.
