Is it better to dye your hair when it's clean or dirty?

Answer #1

clean

Answer #2

Dye basically imbeds itself into the pores on your hair, so if there is a lot of grease or dirt in your hair, it wont really get the chance to fill the pores since they’ll already be covered.

My suggestion is to wash your hair, maybe with warm water, and allow the pores to breathe for a bit before letting the dye set in.

Answer #3

Most hair dye instructions state that it is best to apply the product to dry, unwashed hair (…not necessarily greasy - as grease can act as a barrier and prevent the product working properly). Dye it when it’s a BIT oily if you can wait. The natural oils from your scalp will protect the hair and also ensure it’s even, as some porous (or dry) ends can grab color more so than hydrated areas. :)

Answer #4

I think ur supposed to wash it 24 to 48 hrs before u dye it

Answer #5

From what I have heard, you should color your hair when it’s oily, the natural oil provides some protection for your hair. And the color will adhere to the strands better. Wait at least a day after washing, to color it. In truth though it doesn’t really matter it will work either way…Hope I Helped!

Answer #6

yes, dry but clean :-)

Answer #7

Clean. I always dye mine 24 hours after I’ve washed it. :)
