Dry hair?

Everyone says straightening yur hair makes it look all dry. What does that really mean? What’d the definition of dry hair? I have been straightening my hair and recently I got a nre ahir straighter. it’s a tourmaline ceramic wet 2 straight one.

I always straighten my hair when it’s dry, today I used the new hair straightener and my friend noticed my hair looked dry?

Should I lower the heating? It was on 3-4 Or is it the hair straightener?

Answer #1

ok? Are you serious?? I am a Lisenced Cosmetologist. I know what I am talking about. tinatodder4??? Think with your brain… your whole brain, heat damages hair… we used stuff in the salon called HEAT PROTECTOR, Does that not make sence to you… You may have reall fine hair, and the heat may not effect your hair like it does others, everyone has different hair, The porocity and dencity of the hair is different. There for you can not tell someone “because mine does yours will” Because if you know anything about hair, You know it dosent work that way…

THANK YOU! ;)

—> look at my hair… I bleach it, and straight iron it, always have, and its not “soft as a babys butt” I have natually curly hair… there for it makes a difference too… You just cant tell someone without knowing their whole condition.. Like “use high heat, it will help” lol,… yea no.

Answer #2

dry meaning it has no shine and it’s littered with split ends and frizzies… dry hair is not a good thing. it doesn’t mean dry like when you get out of the shower and DRY your hair. it’s means unhealthy. and no, lowering the heat on your hair straightner actually damages your hair more. you have to put it on the highest heat, and also buy a good heat protectant spray.

Answer #3

lol okay whatever you say. come back in 5 months and tell us how your hair is doing after using that straightener on low heat..

all I know is that I’ve been using 450 degrees daily on my hair for the past 3 years, and my hair is soft like a babys bottom. and it only takes me about 4 minutes to do my untamed hair in the morning because of my bada$$ straightener.

Answer #4

well, just straightening your hair EVERYDAY will dry your hair out. you should only straighten your hair about twice a week, and use a heat protecting product. you might want to soak your hair in olive oil too to heal it. [:

Answer #5

just condition your hair everynight and wash it every other night especially if your dye your hair and straighten it every day…try using garnier fructice length and strength shampoo and aussie moist conditioner…it works really well and its super cheap

Answer #6

my hair used to be like that I straightened it every day more than once, if your not going out anywere dont bother straightening it and leave your hair to dry trust me it works, it drys out because the heat is burnin your hair

Answer #7

It means it looks unhealthy and its frizzy at the bottom Lowering it doesnt help you have to use hair products But this one hair straightener called Chi Its the best it makes your hair look natural and silky But it cost the avarge of 120$

Answer #8

it looks all dim and then you usually get split ends with it I hate dry hair thats why when I straighten my hair I put on this oil for the heat so it wont damage my hair its a good product!!!

Answer #9

and cheap straighteners also have a high heat setting, If you get the right one. I work in a salon, I have a license… Think I dont know what I am talking about? lol you people make me laugh..

Answer #10

try using anti frizz after you’ve straightened your hair… so it won’t become dead and so you wont get split ends!! and when you wash your hair, use conditionar as well, if you dont already do so =)

Answer #11

ok I am a cosmetologist… and I am going to have to tell you that tinatodder4 is wrong… Lowering the heat WILL NOT HARM YOUR HAIR MORE… Thats insane. And Lighter heat on your hair will help, but it might mean it wont straighten your hair as good, A Chi, It usually runs at 490 degrees f. that is a perfessional salon straightener. But, yes, dry hair consists of damaged hair… Split ends, too much heat… stuff like that. let me know if you need anything else. I am lisenced in Oklahoma.

Answer #12

hello please read what you just wrote. a chi which is a professional hair straightener runs up to 490 degrees. a cheap 10 dollar straightener at walmart goes up to about 150 degrees. theres a reason the chi is considered the best, it has the highest heat setting available. the more heat you use, the faster and better it is to straighten your hair. the faster it is to straighten, the less damage your hair takes. it’s common sense, and it’s been proven. you don’t know what you’re talking about, sorry. but you’re completely wrong.

Answer #13

Well yeh of course I know it doesnt mean the shower way. My hair doesn’t frizz. I have very few split ends. I wash it and condition it.
