Why do I have double vision in the mornings?

When I first wake up in the morning, I have slight double vision. I feel my right eye drifting slightly. It finally clears up by early afternoon. What could this be?

The condition where both eyes don’t allign causing double vision is called strabismus.

You should get evaluated by your eye doctor.

I had surgery when I was 1 for strabismus; I still have some problems with double vision when I’m very tired. Since your strabismus seems slight you may be able to have improve your eye tracking with vision therapy rather than surgery.
