Dose anybody else have a difficult time with religion?

My whole life, I have disliked it… I wasn’t raised in it it just seems like all religious people are always yelling

“peace love and happiness” but when it comes down to it they are the ones starting the fight, telling everyone who dosent believe like them that they are going to hell??? Or that God hates them Religious people are the most judgemental people I know and honestly thats not really a judgement or a stab at them its just my observations with my knowledge so far. I am 19 and I am spiritual,

dose anybody agree with me? are you religious do you disagree what do you think about this?..

Hello Peace! My name is Don, and while I am an old geezer, I do agree with what you are saying. I was born and raised in the Nazarene church, which is a conservative outtake from the Methodist church. I am not a Christian, but I do believe in God. The trouble is you are seeing “religious” people instead of Godly people. And believe me, there’s a huge difference! We humans have managed, like almost everything else, to screw up God and religions. We are a critical, judgmental, jealous, and generally unhappy people. We have taken Faith and the Bible, and mostly made it useless, or even nasty. Should you desire to look into some people who are truly as God intended, and there are very few, ask and I will provide you with some contact info. But remember, we humans muck up about everything we get our hands on. So don’t hold religious people against God and what He wanted in the first place. Good luck & take care! Don

I can live with religion, I don’t really have a choice about the matter anyway and can’t even cure my own family of the disease, but my preference would be that it cease to exist.

If we compare the most religious places on earth to the most secular, by far the most secular places are the most desirable places to live, contrary to what religious promoters claim.

For example, New Zealand is the least religious nation on the planet, and it is also one of the safest places to live. I’m not claiming that lack of religion is the reason New Zealand is as safe as it is, but certainly, New Zealand (and other places like it) prove that society does not collapse into chaos without religion as religious promoters falsely claim.

Agree Toadaly, Toadaly if you or anyone else didn’t see the movie “Religulous” (Bill Maher) before, I would recommend it ;-)

Partial review:

“Typically anyone trying to make a case against God goes right to the pedophile priests and the suicide bombers, but Maher makes it a point to focus on normal, reasonably sane religious people. He’s not stacking the deck in his favor, because he doesn’t need to. He talks to truckers in a roadside chapel, he chats with random, middle-class tourists at a Christian-themed amusement park.”

Answer #4

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with other people having a religion, I just find it ironic how usually the people who yell “im a christian” are the biggest hypocrites out there. thanks for your reply :)

Answer #5

I don’t have a problem with others having a religion, I however don’t really care. I’ve been to a lot of different churches and had to go to Sunday school every Sunday till I was 17. So I have had enough.

Answer #6

Yes it’s true that a vast number of people who “claim” to be a Christian either really aren’t or can be a hypocrite. That said, you must remember that although we may make mistakes from time to time it doesn’t mean that we’re all hypocrites. I have been finding lately that non-Christians are looking for those followers of Christ who are truly authentic believers. Scripture says that, “a tree is known by its fruit.” This doesn’t mean we are 100% perfect all the time, every day. That is a lie and it’s impossible to live that way. However we are admonished to strive for perfection and lead a life that is obedient and honours our Lord. Some Christians do fall and fall hard and we label them hypocrites for it. Instead we might do well to do the Christian thing and forgive them just as we would hope they’d do the same for us. Please don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

it just seems like all religious people are always yelling

I’m afraid I have to disagree. You’re taking all religions and placing them in one general pile. It seems what you meant to say was ‘Christians’, seeing as that’s the topic of your further explanations.

I can assure you, Buddhists are not always yelling, nor are they judgmental or bent on converting others.

Answer #8

I think the world will have problems no matter if religion existed or not the world is full of drama. As for “a tree is known by its fruit” always use the 5 before and 5 after rule with scripture because anything can be twisted to be what you want it to be fruit does not grow in one day and it is possible to have an overall good life of course not every fruit on a tree is perfect but each one takes time to grow.

Answer #9

I think that if religion didnt exist the world would be a better place :)

Answer #10

I personally don’t have a problem with a religion, just the people in it.
