Dog with fever?

My 2 year old terrier mix has been feeling really warm to the touch lately. Can dogs get fevers like people? Should I take her to the vet?

Dogs have higher body temperatures than humans do, so your dog should feel a bit warm. However, if she’s warmer than usual you should keep an eye out for other symptoms: Is she overly sleepy? How’s her behavior? Cranky? Has her appetite changed? If there’s anything else out of the ordinary I would definitely take her in.

The temperature is a dog ranges from 100.5 to 102.5. Any rectal temperature reading over 103 is cause for concern.

Keep an eye on her and if you’re still worried or any other symptoms arrive, call your vet to see if you should bring her in. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, but I realize money is always a factor…

Good luck!

animals get sick like how humans do, but a little bit differently, and it is so sad to see an animal sick so check your dog’s temperature and take your dog to a vet to make sure everything is alright I hope your dog is alright!:)

Yes, dogs do get fevers like humans. She may have an underlying infection of some kind, that;s causing a fever. It would be a very good idea, to take her to a vet. She may need some antibiotics, that will help break her fever, and get her feeling better. Poor baby! I hope she’s better soon.
