Does this make me a bad person?

If someone asked me what religion I am, I don’t know if I’d want to answer. See, my family did not grow up being really religious. (I am not going to reveal what I am) we always celebrated (and still do) all the major ‘holidays’ that are recognized…

But the major belief in the religion, I am having a lot of doubts about… In the sense of I am starting to not believe it. Does that make me a bad person? Does this question even make sense?

Answer #1

We all go thru times of doubt, and uncertainity. As you get older, you may start to get the answers that you are seeking.

Answer #2

It certainly doesn’t make you a bad person to question. It’s human nature to seek knowledge.

Faith is personal- if someone asks you straight out what religion you are, you can always ask them what relevance it has to your conversation. If they really get insistent, you can use the phrase I use, which is ‘my mother taught me not to discuss two things with strangers- politics and religion.’ It usually works for me!

Answer #3

It’s GOOD that you’re thinking things over…coming to a conclusion, one way or another without exploration would be the easy softer way…but how satisfied would you be with your own answer? Nope, you’re far from a bad person…you are a smart person…

p

PS…The people who ask you what religion you are, didn’t learn anything in the manner’s department…So just tell them it’s none of their bees wax.

Answer #4

If you have questions…I’d go to godisimaginary.com

It’s what really made me start to think about whether or not I believe.

I mean I don’t agree with all of it, but it really made me think.

Just thought you might want a taste of the “other side”

Answer #5

The question makes sense, and you are not a bad person. You are an honest person.

Answer #6

No, your worldview does not make you a good or bad person. It is the content of your character that determines this.

You don’t have to make excuses or apologize for what you believe.

Answer #7

in my opinion religions just preference so anybody can be any religion they want to be it’s all about your opinions and beliefs. I’m neutral on the whole religion thing and I don’t consider myself a bad person.

Answer #8

it doesnt make you a bad person at all!

doubt is the healthiest behavior of an intellectual thinker

if you really want a title (not that I would personally but w/e) then you are agnostic

Answer #9

Fear or confusion of religion does not make you a bad person at all. Everyone becomes confused by faith at one point or another in there life. Makes perfect sense to me, but just consider that when you look at religion just because something sounds right does not make it right. You after all are only human, it is not what you think is right or wrong but what G-d thinks is right or wrong. You need faith, and no one can give that to you but G-d. He gave it to me, so I am confident of where I am going. G-d bless and good luck.

Answer #10

it does make you, like many, a lost person

Now that’s one of the main reasons, I think, so many religious people or teenagers for that matter, get depressed!!! Having someone telling them that!!!

Kiahk you go for it, open you mind, question things which doesn’t make sense until it do. Our natural ability to think rational were mostly smothered when we were young, here is your chance to be inquisitive.

I don’t think you are lost, some people who are lost seeks their answers in Ancient scripts. (Amblessed)

Answer #11

*“My opinion, certainly doesn’t make you a bad person at all - we all have fallen short, make mistakes, have ups and downs, etc. - it does make you, like many, a lost person”

According to amblessed it doesn’t make you a bad person just a “lost” person. Lost means that you have booked passage on the train to hell.

None of this makes you a bad or lost or anything person… It just makes you a “thinker”. It means that you are able to question, research and consider what others readily just “buy” into… Good for you…

Answer #12

My opinion, certainly doesn’t make you a bad person at all - we all have fallen short, make mistakes, have ups and downs, etc. - it does make you, like many, a lost person - hope you’ll get to know who Jesus is…in a nutshell, this says it all: John 3 : 16, if you’d like to check it out…do, if not, your choice…Take care !!

Watch your thoughts they become words. Watch your words they become actions. Watch your actions they become habits. Watch your habits they become character. Watch your character it doesn’t escape notice. Anytime you do something wrong in life to another person, in public or private, you should be big enough to apologize, regardless of your position…called: integrity.

Answer #17

You could tell them that you are a Unitarian Universalist. That is the one denomination that doesn’t have a creed (a list of approved things to believe or disbelieve). In other words, you can be a devout Christian, Muslim, Jew, atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, or other and still be a member of this unique religion. As they put it, it is a religion that embraces different beliefs. They do have 7 guiding principles they live by…

* The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
* Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
* Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
* A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
* The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
* The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
* Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
