Answer #1

ya

Answer #2

All the churches I’ve attended ask you to do that…but they don’t force you.

Answer #3

none of the ones I’ve’e attened do that

Answer #4

That is called tithing (I hope I spelled that right). I believe that only the catholic church ever asked for that and I believe that they have recinded that. They may ask that you still tithe, but I don’t believe they mean 10% of takehome earnings anymore.

Answer #5

Most churches ask you to give something. Whatever you can afford to give. That’s what my church does. They use the money to fix the church and send to missionaries they are helping to support.

Answer #6

well the church is just doing and asking whats in the bible. if you believe strongly in the bible then yes. every church does. they pass the offering plate around usually. uhm..they usually dont ask for a specific amount. give what you have. thats what God is worried about

Answer #7

yeah every churc I go to does that, its just simply donations, the point of it is to just give back to your church, your not forced to, and no one will look at you meanly if you dont, even if you can only afford to give a dime, as long as you give, I think its great! My church has helped me, so why not help back?

Answer #8

I haven’t been to a church that said you needed to give 10%. The LDS church (mormon) I believe, in order to be a member, forces their members to give 10% out of their paychecks (probably by direct deposit).

You give what you feel comfortable, if I made 1 million dollars a year, I would give 50%, if I was flat broke, I might not have any money left over to give after buying food.

If you go to a church that says you must give 10% or else you are sinning, I would recommend going to one that is less legalistic, that places an emphasis on faith, on not on law.

Answer #9

All churches (all religions) ask for some form of donations. Some place a set percentage, some rely on the individual’s generosity, some have a set membership due. I find all of this bordering on criminal, especially given the tax exempt status of churches, the lack of accountability and the prevalence of misappropriation of funds.

Answer #10

Different churches do things differently. I’ve heard of churches that were funded entirely by a few wealthy patrons so they didn’t need to constantly hit their members up for money. One of my former boss’ dads was a Lutheran minister and at their church the added up their annual operating expenses, divided it by the number of families and simply asked their members to pay that amount once a year.

A friend of mine looked into joining a you church and was appaled that the names of members were listed on a bulletin board with the amounts they contributed. Members who contributed at least 17.5% of their income were given a special title. It all seemed tacky to him and I’ll admit that it seems that way to me too.

My Catholic brother still tithes 10% of his income to his church.

Answer #11

quite a few do and some charge even more usually none of that money goes to the actual church it just goes to the greedy people running it for there own personal gain and no ‘god” requires you to give them money anyway if you beleive in “god” you should realise that they cant spend your money

Answer #12

No not every church asks this of you. It depends though. Sadly there are churches out there that care more about how their church looks than saving souls from going to hell and knowing Jesus Christ as their savior. If you find a church like this, PLEASE don’t go to it! A church that is right in faith will not care if you give or not. My husband was knocked down to 32 hours so we haven’t been able to give a dime in months! My pastor understands though that God expects my husband to take care of his family first before he takes care of his church.
