Do you think I'm childish?

My father’s never there. He’s either working (he travels a lot) or spends time with his girl-friend (who doesnt like me) and her little daughter. He pops in about twice a week to say hi or do his laundry. Once he promised to come for dinner but he forgot. I’m almost grown up (17) and I can really take care of myself, but I do feel a bit lonely sometimes, especially because I only moved in with him a couple of weeks ago and I dont have many friends here yet. Do you think I’m being childish and selfish? Please be honest.

Answer #1

Understandable - have a talk with him and tell him what you said here - hopefully something can be worked out…I wish you the best !!

Answer #2

Of course not! If anything, he’s the one being selfish. Even though, as you say you can look after yourself, he still has a responsibilty to keep up with arrangements and spend time with you.

Answer #3

No, you are not. You are correct and he is wrong. Talk to him and let him know how you feel even if it makes you feel childish, it is the rite thing to do.

Answer #4

hell no! if anything your more mature than he is!!! you take care of urself while he goes and fools around without u!! he may not be usedta you being there because you barely got there, but maybe you shud do a few small things that show you want him 2 hang with u. like when hes doing laundry ask about a movie or something. or even better buy tickets and make him go! 8)

Answer #5

No your not he needs to spend time with you! You dont know anyone there and he needs to be a dad to you!
