do you think energy bars are like steroids

do you think that eating like a sports energy bar or drink or something before you have a race in track and field is sorta like taking steroids because you get that extra boost before you run

Answer #1

No

Answer #2

No. A sports bar is just a shot of nutrition and energy. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich would do the same. But the sports bar companies wouldn’t get rich if you did that, so they manipulate peoples attitudes to get their money. Steroids are hormones that permanently cause physical changes to your body. Some beneficial, most harmful. Stay away from them.

Answer #3

The best thing before a race is pasta. Not too close to race time, but maybe an hour or so before so it can digest. That will give you plenty of carbohydrates. Gatorade is great to because it replaces the electrolytes and salts that you lose through sweating. Water is fine too. Too much food will weigh you down, but you can find a small meal with great nutritional benefits. Eat a banana and it will reduce cramping and help with potassium. Sports bars are okay as a last resort.

Definitely stay away from steroids. They do far more harm than good.
