Do you hate time? I do

Why does time go by so slow when you want it to go by fast..and vice versa?

Answer #1

Sometimes I get angry with time. I wonder why it has to be so rigid. Sometimes I accuse time of crimes that although time may facilitate… it really isn’t guilty of. We consider some things the effects of time… but they are just stowaways.

Time is like a runaway car… you jump in and cant wait until you build up speed and really get going… then you pass a few points of interest and they whiz by too fast to enjoy. Your life becomes the drive and you forget you are going anywhere… before you know it many miles have elapsed and you find yourself wondering where they went. You realize that the runaway car is headed directly for the precipice you can begin to make out ahead. You begin to fear time. As you focus on the inevitable ahead… the few miles left between could be filled with naked alligator women… but they couldn’t turn your attention away. Although the drive could have lasted many miles.. but they are all behind and you are left with the now yards ahead of you… this is all your time has ever been… a few brief seconds of panic.

“Dust in the Wind” plays us out.

Time changed for me the day I decided to stop wearing a watch. I think I was approaching the age of 40. And since that day I’ve not felt so much like a slave to time… I tend to ignore it somewhat, but that is not a good thing as I often keep other people waiting unnecessarily while I’m doing my “free spirit” stuff (translation, puttering and daydreaming).

Yes, I feel like time is the enemy. You spend the first half of your life looking forward to the future, and the last half looking back at the past. Months now fly by like weeks used to. When I was 7, the distance between one Christmas and the next was like a hundred years. Now, I think about Christmas 1995 and it it feels like it was just yesterday.

Now I wish I didn’t need to sleep. All those things I could be doing if my body didn’t need any rest…

There are good arguments about why time doesn’t actually exist. I also hate time. Not it’s speed, but because people always seem to think that you have to have it in order to do things instead of just doing things until you are done and then moving on. it’s like “I spent x amount of time on this, now I’m going to go do that… Why should time matter? are you finished with what you were doing?

Deadlines suck as well.

It is because when you are focusing on it, your brain isn;t concentrating on anything else really, so when you are bored, and staring at the clock, it seems like things are taking ages because you are not distracted, and because, without realising it, you stare at the clock at much smaller time intervals so it seems like time is going much slower.

But, it is going at the same speed alll the time.
