Do you curse around or at your parents?

I am amazed at how some teens talk around their parents. My face would have been slapped off my head if I called my mom a b*tch, and I would have been grounded for three years if I dropped an F bomb. Is anyone offended by the lack of verbal control anymore, or am I going to be the last of the parents who censor their children when speaking to adults?

Answer #1

No, I was taught respect and to care about other’s feelings - I always wanted to make my parents proud of me.

Answer #2

One of the many reasons I hate my dad (yes, hate, not merely dislike) is that he curses around us, mostly about my mum, and his mouth can be so dirty… but if we so much as utter one expletive, we are booted into next week. Or at the very least kicked out of the house. I’m not saying swearing is a good thing, but when parents swear a lot, they can’t expect some of their language not to be picked up by their children. I’m guilty of a few cuss words myself, especially before 11:00 in the morning. I don’t get into trouble(much) for it, because I live with my mum, not my dad, but, knowing some people that swear almost every sentence, I hate the sound of that. I don’t have a problem with swearing in itself, just used in excess it is horrible. I would never swear at my mum and mean it… well, unless you count the time when she poured water over my head to wake me up in the morning… Haha.. sheepish grin. Britz

Answer #3

I curse but not at or around my mom.if I ever cursed around her before im 16 I wont be tan no more I’ll be red.lol.yeah some people are just rediculous.

Answer #4

When I’m really angry I might call one of my parents a name or something, and I’ll get in trouble, but just normal swearing, both my parents are fine with that. The only problem is if I swear around my little sister, ‘cause she repeats me, and she’s only 8 years old.

Answer #5

oo well sometimes I use the f word when im with my parents but they dont really mind as english is not our main language (I think they dont really care unless I say it in my language but I never…

sometimes it happens to say it in a public place and they remind me that people can hear…

Answer #6

I would never in my lifetime even think aobut saying any of those words…my paents would slap me into the next universe and I would be grounded for the rest of my entire life—no joke. I think that it is truly redicuas how people talk to their parents these days–show a little respect!

Answer #7

I swear around my parents but nothing negatively directed towards them.. like I wouldn’t say “you’re a b!tch mom” but I’ve said things like “the dog chewed up my f*cking shoes.” I’ve never been in trouble for swearing so I guess it’s allowed in my house..

Answer #8

Yes. not like a salior or anything just to present im frusturated with something. If you know what im saying

Answer #9

My kids usually complain about my swearing. lol. I dont have a problem with it, if they swear as long as its not to do with attitude towards us and as long as its not out of having a lack of good, powerful vocabulary.

Answer #10

I would never swear in front or at my parents intentionally, then again I generally don’t swear that much anyways. I have had the F word slip out like 3 times in front of my parents but thats about it, it wasn’t directed at them but I still felt bad because I really didn’t mean to and its very uncommon for me.

Answer #11

no I dont curse at them..when im around and somethin happens like I get hurt or so then yea it’ll slip but they’ll just look at meeh, and thats all..and sometimes say to watch my mouth..

Answer #12

I heard my sister say something to the effect of “ That’s f*ckin retarded… “ and my parents didn’t even flinch… I couldn’t believe they put up with it. She is their fourth teenager though, I think they just gave up.

Answer #13

Well yeah I talk to my mom like she is a friend and same with her towards me but im almost 20 and she kicked me out when I was 17 so yeah lol comes with the deal…

Answer #14

my parents cussed at me all the time, when I started cussing they didnt even mention it. But I dont call them names or anything like some kids. if I still respect them isnt that all that matters.

Answer #15

I THINK CURSING YOUR PARENTS IS THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL THING TO EVER DO!!! IF MY SON EVER SPOKE TO ME LIKE THAT HE WOULD BE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE!!! YOUR KIDS ARE WHAT THEY LEARN FROM THEIR PARENTS, SO IF A CHILD IS CURSING THEIR FAMILY (OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER!!), I CANT SAY THEIR PARENTS HAVE DONE A VERY GOOD JOB IN TEACHING THEIR KIDS WHATS RIGHT FROM WRONG!!! THATS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS WORLD,NO ONE RESPECTS EACH OTHER ANYMORE!!! VERY SAD!

SO IM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU ‘’NERD’’!!! AND LETS HOPE IT RUBS OFF ON TO OUR KIDS FOLLOWING ON WITH GOOD BEHAVIOUR TO THEIR KIDS ONE DAY…!!! AS CORNY AS IT SOUNDS: ‘’CHILDREN REALLY ARE THE FUTURE’’!!!

Answer #16

parents swear a lot as well! in my family, we do it a lot but thats us some familys think its the most horrible thing you could do, some dont like it, others are okay with it, while some wont really mind swearing is a way people can release anger, or they say it if they feel frustrated, ect but adults do it as well, probably even more then children

Answer #17

well,I am only 13 years old but I think it is very rude and disrespectful to cuss someone out.now,my parents wouldn’t mind me cussing cause they know how teenagers are.but,I don’t cuss because it is also not very christian like.also,I think the main reason any one would cuss is because they think it’s cool…well,it’s not!!if you had a best friend and you started cussing around them and they didn’t like you cussing I think they shoul and most likely would not hang around you any more because that would be a very bad influnce.

Answer #18

I suppose I have a bigger problem with the disrespectful attitude. A teen girl in an earlier post wanted to convince her parents to let her drive. With the suggestion to get a job to prove how responsible she was, and (direct quote:) “..I told her like im almost freakin 17 and well I aint gettin no ‘effin job and help them pay for da bills till I get my license..and that DOES make them think it twice” If my kid ever talks to me that way, she will be enrolled in grammar tutoring to learn how to speak, and she will be volunteering until she gets enough character to show some respect.

Answer #19

well I am 13 and like I cuss every now and then. if I would to ever cuss around my dad my a$$ would be fukn beat and that isnt a joke. but with my mom she is cool with it but I would never be like omg mom you are such a bittch or nothing like that because I have respect. but like if someone is talking stuff I would be like shes a bittch. and my mom doesnt care but I never drop thee F bomb around either one of my parents, to me that is disrespectful.

Answer #20

Well, here’s the thing, if parents can cuss at their kids, we are entitled to cuss back (to an extent) That’s kind of like…if they hit us, we have the right to defend ourselves. But… cussing is one of the most immature ways of handling tough situations- it just gets everyone more fired up, and no one gets anywhere. It doesn’t add anything to what you are trying to get by. They’re simply useless words. I’ve only cussed at my mother when we got into big fights, but that’s been seldom as I have gotten older. I realize she’s the only one that’s been there for me, other than my grandparents. Grandparents are great, but they’re not your mom or dad. I grew up w/out my father, so all I had was my mom. Having said that… is it REALLY worth it to cuss at her??

Answer #21

No I’ll get slapped like you don’t know…lol =]]

Answer #22

I dont cuss around they because I no I would get a goo a** beating

Answer #23

YEA I DO LOL ITS BAD OF ME BUT THAY DONT GET IT

Answer #24

Well I do sometimes around my mom but I would NEVER call her a bith or say the f word yea cause she would probably kick my as !!!

Answer #25

yeah I do it all the time my parents don’t really give a fck unless its really out of hand like, I talked to my dad on the phone today(my parents are divorced) and hes like “Oh wow, you’ve done a 180 degree turn around in you’re life” and im like “No fcking sht, after getting screwed over last time I decided I didn’t want to get fcked in the a*s anymore” and he didn’t care my therapist and I swear together too I don’t believe that they’re harmful, its people that hype them up to be

Answer #26
