Do Filipinos Consider themselves Asians or Pacific Islanders?

Actually Filipinos are considered Pacific Islanders with the rest of us Pacific Islanders :] in my opinion I consider myself pacific islander more than Asian but Pacific Islander means you’re technically Asian so yeah >_<

I’m from the Philippines originally and consider myself Asian - in fact, never heard any other Filipino call themselves Pacific Islander.

I’m 1/4 filipino. Filipinos are both Asian and Pacific Islander. This is because The Philippines is a part of the Asian continent and it is also an island in the Pacific Ocean.

I have a filipina (feminine form of filipino) friend who is Americanized and she denies being Asian because she doesn’t like the whole Asian stereotype. She says she is strictly “Pacific Islander.” But in reality filipinos are both Asian and Pacific Islander.

How is it possible that pacific islander’s are technically asian?

Papua New Guineans,fijians,vanuatuans are pacific islanders (melanesians),they don’t consider themselves asians and neither do you…so I don’t get where the whole pacific islanders are “technically asians”??

Um…no offense to any Filipinos out there…but why are they considering themselves pacific islander???

No offense…But they are not even part of Polynesia or Melanesia…which is Tonga,Samoa,Hawaii,cook Island,Nuie,Marquesas Island, Kiribati, New Caledonia,Fiji and New Zealand…

But Filipinos are just asian…no hate intended

well, im pretty sure that its spelt phillipino… or something like that. lol. not filipino. =] well, I guess it really depends on what they want to consider themselves. and also maybe what part of the phillipines they lived in. lol. =] but I consider them asian.. =] llol.

How fucking stupid is that lol .Your friend Is of Filipino Descent and lived and grew up in America , but considers herself to be ‘strictly’ Pacific Islander?, which has nothing to do with america or the phillipines. WTF?

So im of italian descent living in australia but I claim to be a Brazilian.

Its not spelled philipino its spelled filipinos, only us filipinos would know. And i consider us asian, why else would i have asian eyes?
