why do i keep getting dents in my thumbnails?

for about a year now ive been getting dents in my thumbnails, and i don’t know why. Eventually they grow out but then they come back. If anyone has ever had this problem or if you know why it’s happening please help because I need to fix it as it’s really annoying me

Well, i used to get dents in my nails when i used to get my nails done at a nail shop (acrylics). Do you get your nails done? Maybe thats why…

Answer #2

maybe they were done wrong or pulled off rather then soaked off…that might happen if you arent careful with getting your nails done by a professional nail tech & then having them removed by a professional nail tech!
Also it really depends on the nail tech & the supplies she uses…if they have mma in them it will ruin your nails & be a real pain in the but to remove! (that is like the acrylic stuff dentists use to fill in your hole in your teeth! then wonder why that happened!) My best advice… Always make sure you know the tech & what supplies they are using…if it is a NSS(non standard salon) just walk away…better pay more, be safe then sorry!)

  1. Never use acetone, only a non acetone nail polish remover that will keep it from getting all brittle & white stains around your fingers.
  2. make sure you after the acrylics were taken off that they are filed down just in case there may be any excess nail glue left.
  3. wash hand well & pat dry…use a good hand lotion & rub some over all nails & around the cuticles.
  4. push back & remove any excess dead cuticles…then rewash hands.
  5. use a ridge filler that will fill the gaps of the nail then top with calcium serum.
  6. If you have almond oil, dab some on the cuticles & massage it well into the cuticles(helps keep the cuticles moist & that is what you need right now to help your nails grow!)

there are many good treatments out there if you look in your nearest cvs store or walgreens… hope this helped! good luck!

my mom does nails ! same thing happens to me ! its because when they file you nail it gets thinner then they put the fake nail on so you can’t see your nail really growing ! so when the fake nail comes off you have the part of the nail which is filed and the part thats not is new nail ( how thick your nails were before you had them filed )
