What are some things I can do to cut down on my daughter's medications?

She has asthma and is on Singular, Albuterol inhaler, Albuteral for the nebulizer, claritan, pulmicort, and flonase. Any suggestions will be appreciated thx

I really would not trust the advice of anyone on a website when it comes to your daughters health. Instead make an appointment with her doctor and express your concern for the amount of medication she is on. Alot of times if you tell your physician that you can’t afford all of the medications they can cut out unneccasary ones or even put her on a new one that will work and replace two or more of ones she is already on. Its really something that needs to be handled and watched over by her doctor though.

Ok thx, I just thought maybe someone would have maybe some natural remidies that may help. Thx for your help :-)

I know how you about about her condition… My husband has got a bunch of pills in her suitcase ever since…. He tries to leave the unecessary one on different moment when he feels that he does not need one. But for your daughter, I do not think she can tell which one she needs, so I get along with Mandy, just see a doctor… Hope she gets well soon. :)

Ok thx so much sweetie

Answer #5

WOW, why all the duplications? She needs to see a lung specialist… I am a Respiratory Tech and that is too much meds…

Get her to a doc who treats childhood asthma.

Answer #6

That’s what her doc says she needs, and I will b sure to ask about a lung specialist and childhood asthma doc, thx so much

Together with her asthma medication you can use a humidifier at night and then also get her on a swimming team or swimming lessons. My boyfriends asthma improved to such an extent that his doctor cleared him to go off his meds. It strenghtens your lungs and helps with breathing. My ashtma also improved once I cut out all diary products and foods with colourants in it. Look for triggers and try to avoid them (except for exercise - you need her to do some cardio (no matter what her age) so that she can improve her lungs, immune system and overall strenght.

Answer #8

Good idea, and she loves to swim, she is very active and it makes me feel real bad that she can’t be as active as she wud like

Answer #9

It does suck a bit, but with proper nutrition, using the meds regularly and the exercise it gets better. I used to only be able to do about 2km maximum with running before getting nauseous from not being able to breathe properly and then I changed my diet with more fruits, veggies etc and used my medication better and today I can do a lot more.

Answer #10

cutting out dairy helped my asthma a great deal. Now I don’t need any medications most of the time. Certainly worth a try.

Answer #11

What exactly are the duplicates here? The claratin is an antihistamine for allergies, the singulair helps with the chest tightness etc, the albuterol is a rescue inhaler, the nebulizer is for severe asthma, the pulmicort is for maintenance purposes and the flonase is a spray that helps with allergies. Mine prescribes all of them and I think my doctor knows what he’s doing (not that I take any of them, but those are the basic meds that doctors prescribe).

Answer #12

Ok thx

Answer #13

So u don’t have any home remidies I cud do to ellimate any of the meds?
