What is something crafty/artsy I can do with these records I have?

I want to use the record sleeves and possibly the vinyls themselves to make some kind of piece of art I just cant think of anything.

Answer #1

You can put them on your wall in your bedroom maybe?

Answer #2

That’s boring and played out, also I want something that will last. I appreciate it, though.

Answer #3

You could get a shelf that you could personalize by painting or something, and then stack all your records on it. Maybe a shelf like this: http://funadvice.com/r/15rn1m7s3l1. Another idea, like Kahili said, is to put them all on your wall, like this: http://funadvice.com/r/bql6gueusl9. Or keep the record sleeves on, like this: http://funadvice.com/r/15rn1m7sni4. That’d look so awesome!

You can make clocks out of the records. Clock movements seem to be available from shops that sell electronic parts. I once used a “Toscanini” gramophone recording (sacrilige!) to make a clock that played a little melody every hour.

Answer #5

Oops, ignore my second two ideas haha.

Answer #6

The only actual creative thing I can really think of is use them as record-stars; hang them from your ceiling….well that, and you could make a huge smile face on your wall out of them.

Like Rob Dyrdek says: Think outside the box.

Answer #7

I honestly cant think of aything to do with them. Besides, maybe, yu could get frames you like and decoupage them and then put the record inside and hang it on your wall. Or depending on how many you have you could cover the ceiling with them and then put those glow in the dark stars around them , thatd be cool. Sorry if these are kinda lame lol its kinda tough, dont really know much you can do with them.

These maight help; http://funadvice.com/r/15rnfaucc81

Answer #8

you can do alot with records if you melt them and reshape them. I have seen people make fountain with them, or heat them and bend them to make bags.

Answer #9

I hate that my phone doesnt let me reply to your comments. I read everyone’s comment and followed the links if there were any, thank you all for your ideas! MrGramophone- That’s pretty cool and I’ve always meant to look into clocking making, I will look into that, maybe it’ll end up being a part of whatever I make.

Danielle- Im seriously going to look into melting records into different shapes, I wonder how that’s done, haha.

Changelit- why ignore the last two ideas? Because I told Kahili that putting them on the wall was played out? =P Ahaha, thanks for offering an idea, though.
