Do they cover evolution in AP Biology?

How deep do they go into it?

Answer #1

Are you referring to evolution in general or specifically the theory humans came from ape - because the latter varies from state to state whether or not they cover it in school at all. I have been told in areas of the bible belt, ie Kentucky and that area - they don’t even touch on theory or Scientology at all.

Answer #2

I don’t know for sure, but if it is a program that wants to be taken seriously it should at least introduce the concept. Evolution is a central tenet of biology, and explains better than any other theory how biological systems came about. To get a specific answer to your question, talk to your teacher or the guidance counselor.

Torturdchaos, please realize that evolution has NEVER said people “came from apes” or “evolved from apes”. What evolution teaches is that humans and apes descended from a common ancestor. Around 6.5 million years ago the ancestors of chimps and the ancestors of humans diverged.

Answer #3

Did you actually just compare the theory of evolution to scientology? Like seriously?

Answer #4

err didn’t mean for it to come across like that, but I was just stating that those area’s avoid anything both evolution and Scientology when it comes to teaching.
